Chapter 1: New Worlds

One day in Equestria, Twilight Sparkle and friends gathered at her library. Twilight had come up with a new spell and wanted to test it with the others. Everyone was excited to see what the spell did, but Pinkie Pie hadn’t arrived yet.
Suddenly, Pinkie burst in;
Twilight: Pinkie you’re late.
Pinkie: No I’m sweetly late.
Twilight: What!?
Pinkie: You know instead of being fashionably late, I’m sweetly late cause I have sweets.
Rainbow dash: Ok yeah... hey Twi, Pinkie’s here, go ahead.
Twilight: OK! Now that we are all accounted for, let’s start.

As Twilight Sparkle begins performing the incantation, she’s interrupted by a munching sound;
Pinkie: Mmm munch, munch.
Twilight: Pinnnkiee!
Pinkie: munch, munch... what?
Rainbow dash: You’re distracting her.
Pinkie: Oopsies. Sorry.
Twilight: Ok...
She inhaled and attempted to continue. Her horn lights up while reciting the spell. Then, a light shot up from Twilight;
Pinkie: Oooohh Pretty... Wait. Twi, where’d you go?  
She ran toward Twilight’s direction;
Twilight: Wait, Pinkie Pie. No!
Pinkie Pie knocked over a charm that Twilight was using for the spell. This disrupted the Spell and caused an explosion. The Ponies were knocked out in the commotion.

Elsewhere in another world Scourge was finally free of Zone prison. After the destructix helped him break out, he left them for his own ambitions. His goal was to rule the Multiverse. To achieve this, he fled to Mobius Prime using a stolen world hopper from Zone prison. He arrived to witness an uncommon scene;
Twilight: Oh my head... You okay girls?!
Apple Jack: No need to worry about me Sugarcube.
Rainbow: I’m good.
Rarity: Oh how dreadful. What happened?
Pinkie: Oopsies! My bad. Ummm... Where are we?
Fluttershy: It doesn’t look like we’re in Ponyville anymore. We could be anywhere, Manehattan, Phillydelphia, or even Mexicolt.
Twilight: I don’t think this is Manehattan.
Apple Jack: I second that. Doesn’t quite look like Phillydephia either.
As Twilight got up, she rose to stand on 2 feet;
Twilight: Ahhhh!!! What happened?! I’m a, a, and I have these??? What!?
Pinkie: Twi!? What happened to your front hooves? You look kinda like a hue mane bean.
Twilight: You mean a human being.
Pinkie: Yeah 1 of those.
Twilight: How do you know what a human is?
Pinkie: Well, 1 day while bouncing around in your library, a book fell on my face describing them.
Rarity: How about we focus on more pressing matters, like where are we and why do we look like this!
Pinkie: I think we should find somepony to befriend and throw us a welcome party!
Twilight: She right! Well part right. We should find a local.
Apple Jack: Yeah so we can figure out where in the hay we are.
Fluttershy: Look! What’s that blue blur streaking by?
Pinkie: Hey! Hey! Hey! Over here blue blur!
Twilight: Pinkie stop! Now it’s coming right at us.
Pinkie: Why? Weren’t we looking for somepo...
???: Hey! You guys look strange. I’m guessing you’re not from around here?
Twilight: No we’re not. Hi! My name is Twilight Sparkle and these are my friends.
Apple Jack: Howdy partna! Names Apple Jack!
Rainbow: What’s up? Rainbow Dash is my name, and speed is my game.
???: Oh really (snickering)
Rarity: My name is Rarity. Charmed I’m sure.
Fluttershy: Hi. I’m flutter mmmm.
???: Huh?
Fluttershy: My name is flutter....
???: Still didn’t catch that last part. Can you speak louder?
Pinkie: She’s Fluttershy. The shy 1 and I am Pinkie Pie the party animal. I love to party! You’re a strange looking pony!
???: Pony?! I’m Sonic the hedgehog! You seem to be lost so what is she so excited about?
Twilight: She’s always like this so get used to it. Where are we by the way?
Sonic: We’re just outside Mobatropolis.
Rainbow: Where in Equestria is that???
Sonic: Aquesia? This is Mobius!
Twilight: No Equestria! That’s where we are from.
Sonic: Then you’re a Looooong way from home. I never heard of the place. So you guys just arrived here?
Rainbow: Yeah. How’d you figure that?
Sonic: Lucky guess.
He pointed at the scorched Earth underneath them;
Sonic: Hey! Cool book.
Twilight: Book!? Where?
He pointed on the ground near Twilight Sparkle at a damaged book. She picks it up and begins to flip through it.
Rainbow: Twi! This is no time for story time.
Pinkie: Ooh Ooh! Lemme guess what it’s about! Ummm... Monkey ninjas, flying cupcakes, No! I got it. 6 friends stranded in a strange new land.
Twilight: No, No & No!!! It’s the spell book. Our way home!!
Rarity: Oh Thank Celestia! Now we can get home.
Twilight: Wait a minute. No! The book is damaged. Half the pages aren’t even here.
Rainbow: Tell me the spell to get us home is there?
Twilight stares down and sighs;
Apple Jack: Great! Just great! There goes our way home.
Twilight starts to throw the remainder of the book, but decides to just put it away.
Sonic: Don’t worry there are plenty of ways off this planet.
Rarity: Really what can we use!
Sonic: It’s called the chaos emeralds...
Rarity: An emerald now I really want one where can we find one and how big are they!
Twilight: Calm down now, what’s a chaos emerald and why is there the word “chaos” in front of it? Chaos is usually synonymous with trouble.
Sonic: Well can’t deny that, but they are the most powerful gems on the planet and can be used for good in the right hands.
Rarity: I don’t care if it has power all I want is a big beautiful jewel for my fashion line.
Sonic: I don’t think that’s gonna happen. Let’s go meet up with the freedom fighters. I will explain more on the way.
Rainbow: Race ya!

They took off to Mobatropolis. Unbeknownst Scourge was watching from the shrubbery. He came out grinning. In his hands, the lost pages from Twilight’s spell book.
Scourge sought out Ixis Naugus. Surely the great mage could help him traverse to this new world. He found him in a dark cave;
Scourge: So this is where you’re hiding out?
Ixis: Who goes there?
Scourge walks out from the Shadows;
Ixis: Sonic??? How dare you come here for me?
Scourge: Sonic? No I’m Scourge. Scourge the hedgehog. The Nega-Sonic and I have a proposition for you. Some ponies just arrived on Mobius with high magic potential. I have a spell that can send us back to their world. Imagine a magical world ripe for the picking. Who knows what new spells await you.
Ixis: Why should I trust you? What’s in it for you?
Scourge: I wanna rule this new world. Mobius is yours. You help me get there and takeover, I’ll help you rid Mobius of Sonic and his friends once and for all. We can even get rid of Robotnik.
Ixis: Hmmm. That is an interesting proposal, but this is a new world. Are you sure we 2 are enough to conquer it?
Scourge: I get the feeling that this world’s residents aren’t very dangerous, but who do you have in mind?
Ixis grabs a black crystal and recites a spell. Darkness Unleash!!!;
???: Where am I? What’s going on?
Ixis: Welcome back Mephiles! I recovered you after the events in Soleanna.
They explain everything to him.
Mephiles: As long as I can get revenge on Shadow, I’m in.
The trio heads to the spot where the ponies appeared. Ixis invokes a reverse perfected version of the spell Twilight used. It allowed them to warp to her library in Ponyville maintaining their current forms unlike the ponies did.
They researched Equestria in her books. After learning of the princesses, they looked for books on the greatest threats to the land. Each found a near kindred villain to pursue. Scourge asked Ixis for a stone of corruption for he had the more difficult task.
